The Nicholas Sutton Library

Next time you visit The Club, be sure to have a relaxing read at The Nicholas Sutton Library. Named after our Past-President for his invaluable leadership at a time when The Club went through a major transformation, to not only survive but to cement its future in the WA business environment.

As Club President from 2013 – 2015, Nick’s term was a particularly challenging period in The Club’s history. Through his leadership, drive, and the tenacity of a military officer on a mission, Nick and his Committee ensured that our Club survived and continues as you experience it today.

Nick devoted himself to reinventing the Club and positioning it for the future. Under his Presidency, The Western Australian Club moved to the 12 St Georges’ Terrace Clubhouse with its brilliant views of the iconic Swan River.

This new premises represents the very heart and soul of the WA Club. Today, if I am leaving any sort of legacy from my time as President, then I hope it would be that I’ve offered The Club an opportunity to look forward to another 124 years of history. I feel it’s been a case of ‘mission accomplished.
