Fast Facts About the Company
1) To provide clients easy selection and placement of orders, Midland Brick opened additional retail and trade outlets from two to seven in the metro area and four in the country region.
2) Midland Brick Company Pty Ltd Middle Swan is recorded as being in the Guinness Book Of Records as ‘The Largest Brickworks’ in the word covering an area of 119 hectares and has a weekly production capacity of 7.7 million brick equivalents.
3) Burning bricks meant a team of four men would work 36 hours straight shifts. They would start at 7-30am on a Monday and go through to Wednesday. The men stayed with the kilns for that period of time sleeping on old hessian bags for a bed.
4) Between October 1963 and October 1968 Midland constructed the first four oil fired tunnel kilns with a typical output per kiln 150,000 to 185,000 bricks per day. Per week production average 6,400,000.
