Club Policies

Dress Code

Members are requested to ensure that guests are informed of the following standards:

Members of the Club are required to uphold, at all times, a high standard of dress in the Club’s premises. The wearing of a jacket and tie is encouraged.

Minimum standards:

  • Gentlemen: Tailored trousers, long sleeve collared business shirt.
  • Ladies: Smart attire appropriate to the dress requirement of the gentlemen.

It is the Club’s intention to ensure that Members and guests feel comfortable within the Club, however overwhelming feedback from Members favours a professional dress code.

The following are not acceptable:

  • Denim, shorts, short sleeved shirts, casual shirts, runners and boatshoes.

Please remember to advise your guests of the Club dress standards.

Mobile Phones

Member and guest phones be turned to “silent” or “off” when entering the Club. If a Member or guest needs to answer a call to move to either the Club Lounge at the front entrance of the Club or to the rear Members Lounge and answer the call discreetly, taking care not to impinge on the quiet enjoyment of other Members and guests.

Guests

Members are permitted to invite guests into the Club at any time, although their names must be entered into the Visitors Book located at the Concierge Desk in the foyer. There is a limit of three guests per visit, guests must remain with the Member, and Members are responsible for the payment of guest charges. Please note, per the by-laws, Members’ guests (other than spouse) are expected to lodge their own membership application if they come as a guest more than three times in a calendar year.

Smoking

Australian government laws do not permit smoking in public areas and therefore The Western Australian Club has a no-smoking policy.

Laptops, Tablet PCs, PDAs, iPads, Mobile Phones

Laptops and similar equipment, along with mobile phones may be used within the Club in a limited manner. This policy is intended to both ensure privacy and minimize disturbance to fellow Members. Accordingly, the following usage restrictions apply.

Dining Room:

  • Electronic devices must be hand held or lay flat against the table (no laptops with upright screens).
  • No sound, earphones or blue tooth devices are permitted.
  • No photographs, videos or sound recordings may be made.

Members Lounge (rear):

  • Laptops with upright screens and the above-referenced electronic devices may be used, consistent with this policy, in the Members Lounge at the rear of the Club and in banquet rooms according to the wishes of the event organiser.

Please note: The Western Australian Club takes no responsibility for any electronic items damaged or lost while on Club property.

Gratuities

If desired, Members may contribute to the Employee Gratuity Fund at the end of the year.

Special Events Cancellation Fee

The Club’s cancellation policy for special events is as follows:

  • Cancellation 25 hours to three business days prior to an event incurs a 50% charge of the event’s cost.
  • Cancellation less than 24 hours before the event incurs 100% of the charge.

Photography

Club Members and their guests are asked to refrain from photography in the Club, except on holidays and special events as determined by the Club Committee.

Professional photographers are permitted to take photographs only in areas designated for the private event. Media (television, radio, press or video) representatives must obtain permission from the Club Secretary/ General Manager prior to entering the Club.
